Reliable Performance
✦ UV CURING LAMPS YOU CAN RELY ON
Our UV lamps are manufactured for an extensive range of medium-pressure mercury arc lamps suitable for all known UV curing systems. Offering outstanding performance, the lamps provide exceptionally good service life and consistent UV output. These UV curing lamps are used world-wide for curing inks and coatings in the printing, packaging and labeling industries as well as in a wide range of industrial applications, including fiber optic cable production, wood products and electronics.
All our UV curing lamps are manufactured from high-clarity vitreous silica, commonly called quartz. Quartz has the property of high transparency to ultraviolet light, particularly at the shortwave end of the spectrum where more than 90% of the UV energy generated is transmitted through the quartz. The electrode components are manufactured using the highest-quality materials, ensuring long and reliable lamp life. Our Quality Standard not only ensures that each lamp is manufactured to the most stringent specifications, but also that lamp performance is consistent over time.
Applications & Industries
Scope of Application:
With spectrum mainly distributed in the range of 200nm and 450nm with the peak value of 365nm, the lamp is mainly used as an ideal light source for the surface coating of printing and plate making, flexible packaging and color printing, the furniture industry, decorative materials, paper vanishing and printed cans, aging of polymer compounds, photosensitive flame retardant and photosensitive character ink on semiconductors, printed circuit boards and signs.
Applicable industries include:
- UV printing: offset plate, letterpress, flexo, inkjet, glue, hot melting, inseparably linked printing;
- UV painting: for CD; for electronic components: such as printed circuit boards and resistors; film coating; photoconductor; wood, plastic; UV coating of three-dimensional objects made of plastic, glass and wood;
- UV adhesion: for DVD; electronic components, display screen, sensors; for glass: such as jewelry, furniture; plastic parts; precision mechanical components; medical technology: such as needles, catheters; optical components: such as lenses, prisms and optical conductors;

Technical Deep-Dive
The electrodeless mercury-arc lamp has, as its name implies, no electrodes. An arc is established by the generation of micro-waves. These types of lamps are generally produced in two standards lengths, 6 inch and 10 inch. By far, the most widely used is the medium pressure mercury arc lamp (an MPMA Lamp). This can be air or water-cooled and can be manufactured in a wide range of lengths. Single lamps of two metres long are not uncommon, and the working life of MPMA lamps can be expected to be well over 1,000 hours.
The ultraviolet spectral output is sometimes expressed graphically, showing the proportional output at the important ultraviolet wavelengths. A graph of a typical MPMA lamp is shown here.
4. Lamp Life
Medium-pressure mercury arc lamps do not normally fail suddenly, as do ordinary household light bulbs. Efficiency declines relatively slowly, until insufficient UV light is being emitted for the lamp to cure effectively. This decline is caused primarily by the deterioration in UV transparency of the quartz jacket, and depends on a number of factors:- lamp cooling efficiency, power rating, current rating of the electrodes, electrode cooling efficiency, contamination of the lamp's external surface (dust etc.) and switching frequency.
When correctly used, our UV Curing Lamps are guaranteed to produce a high level of curing efficiency for at least 1,500 hours and, with proper handling, they will still be capable of delivering at least 80% of original output.
